Background

Just a stone’s throw from the shores of West Wittering beach, The Wittering has become a firm favourite among both locals and visitors. Since taking over the business, the new owners have transformed the space, evolving it from a traditional pub into a stylish gastro bar and restaurant known for its seasonal menus, vibrant atmosphere, and exceptional food.

With its coastal location and relaxed vibe, The Wittering naturally draws large summer crowds. But like many hospitality businesses in seaside locations, they faced a familiar challenge: how to build consistent, year-round revenue and maintain visibility beyond the tourist season.

They wanted a marketing partner who could help raise the quality of their brand presence, particularly on social media, and ensure their restaurant, bar and B&B rooms were always front of mind for the right audiences.

Objectives

Our brief was to elevate The Wittering’s online presence, drive consistent bookings across the restaurant, bar and rooms, and crucially, to build deeper connections with the local community, encouraging repeat visits and off-season trade.

They needed social media to reflect the quality of the food and experience, but they didn’t want it to take up valuable time or headspace, their priority was running the restaurant and looking after guests. So they brought us in to handle it all.

What We Did

We began by transforming The Wittering’s social media with high-end, on-brand photography and engaging video content that showcased the atmosphere, the food, and the team behind it all. We developed and implemented a strategic social media plan to ensure their content wasn’t just beautiful, it was seen by the right people, at the right time.

We manage all content planning, direction and production through monthly shoots, taking the pressure off the internal team and ensuring a consistent, professional stream of marketing activity without interrupting service.

But beyond social, we worked closely with the owners to develop a year-round marketing strategy designed to build loyalty, grow the customer base, and drive off-peak business. A key part of this was the locals loyalty scheme, an initiative we conceived, designed, and delivered from the ground up.

We created the full campaign, from positioning and visual identity to rollout and promotion. This included designed loyalty cards, a print and digital communication plan, social media content, email campaigns, and in-venue POS displays. We built the digital sign-up forms and landing pages, integrating them directly into their HubSpot CRM, enabling ongoing contact, personalisation, and meaningful engagement with members.

To kick things off, we helped organise a launch event which brought together local customers, introduced them to the scheme, and allowed them to collect their cards in person – setting the tone for the community-first ethos of the campaign.

The Results

The loyalty campaign has already attracted nearly 500 local members, resulting in an increase in repeat visits, stronger off-season trade, and a clear message to the community: you’re valued here. The campaign hasn’t just helped generate revenue in slower months, it’s helped build long-term customer relationships and turn occasional diners into regulars.

At the same time, The Wittering’s social media now feels as polished and professional as the food and service they’re known for. Their hotel rooms are consistently booked, and their summer events have seen huge turnouts thanks to carefully timed, targeted promotional support across digital channels.

With the marketing taken care of, the team can focus on what they do best – creating exceptional experiences, plate after plate, day after day.
